But they do degrade image quality a bit, and can affect focus, etc.Nikographerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09912548544508648036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7677534242792049022.post-61601472174413136472008-05-02T10:32:00.000-04:002008-05-02T10:32:00.000-04:00Wonderful advice, very valuable. Thank you for sharing.

I was in a camera store recently and the salesperson said I should definitely have a UV filter on all my lenses, all the time. I asked and was told there was no downside. To be kind I assume he just didn't know, but you wonder how many camera store clerks are dispensing bad advice like this all the time...Tom O'Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11897139010572996121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7677534242792049022.post-10442536959651269402008-05-01T22:40:00.000-04:002008-05-01T22:40:00.000-04:00You know, I've had a UV/haze filter on my lens the...You know, I've had a UV/haze filter on my lens the whole time to protect the lens, and you've got me wondering if it's been doing more harm than good. I've always used them on my film SLRs, mostly for protection. I wasn't aware of the negative effect they had on DSLRs. I did some further reading online and discovered that UV filter usage is responsible for the 'purple fringing' I have found on some of my photos.flickrfotograferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08454061500108911229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7677534242792049022.post-70392508673784938212008-05-01T00:42:00.000-04:002008-05-01T00:42:00.000-04:00Definitely some good suggestions here.Definitely some good suggestions here.Eric Haashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04468387756778920730noreply@blogger.com
